he 5 foot high wainscoting is wide antique white pine boards. They have been hand sanded and finished with a water based polyurethane to keep the naturally light color of the boards. It’s difficult to find wide boards without defects. In order to use the beautiful wide boards, we applied small Dutchman patches to any knot hole or defect in the wood. The antique oak used on the floor has been thickness planed on the backside. The surface has been hand sanded to maintain not only saw marks, but all the marks of time. The oak was combined with a dark chestnut to add color to the floor. Any fresh cut edges that were made in the wood have been rounded to keep the worn aged look. The entire floor has been treated first with tung oil and then polyurethane.
